Xcel Customer Empowermet Meeting

XCEL CUSTOMER EMPOWERMET MEETING

Picture
Saint Paul 350 and experts from the Citizens Utility Board of Minnesota are hosting this Zoom conversation to help you be a more empowered energy consumer.
Xcel Energy wants to raise electric residential rates more than 21% over 3 years. This will create greater hardship for those most struggling in this inflationary and post-pandemic period. There are already about 15,000 St. Paul residents currently struggling to pay their energy bills.
And the proposed increase is excessive. As of June 2022, Xcel Energy reported a profit of 7.8 billion over the previous year. That is record 8.4% profit growth. Currently, Xcel Energy shareholders make a guaranteed 9% return yearly on their investment, with Xcel proposing to increase that to over 10%.
As the globe turns increasingly to renewable energy to address the climate emergency, a much less costly form of energy production, we can be empowered to be informed energy consumers.
Learn about the context, process and implications of the proposed rate hike. And review a sample Xcel bill statement to be able to interpret your own bill more carefully.
ZOOM LINK WILL BE SENT TO ALL REGISTRATIONS DURING THE WEEK OF THE EVENT.
