Rondo Days is back for its 34th year July 11 through July 15!
This year’s festival will feature an expansion of the festival grounds to MLK park, where the Rondo Days Festival was held during the first several years since its inception. There will be a second stage that will feature a Senior/Mature Adult desired music stage (Old School R&B, Jazz, Blues, Soul, Top 40/Variety, etc.). Over the last several years the Elder/Mature Adult attendance to the festival has dramatically declined. So this year we are trying something different to draw the pillars of the Rondo Community back out to the festival celebration. MLK park features plenty of shade from the trees, significantly less ground to cover walking and if folks get there early enough, they may be able to secure an opportunity to catch the end of the Rondo Days Grande Parade. The Rondo Days Parade begins at 10AM at St. Peter Claver Church and is routed through the Rondo neighborhood – with a variety of parade participants from Drill & Dance Teams, to Floats, to Politicians, Educators, Business Owners and Youth groups – to the festival grounds, where the entertainment stage generally launches the festival around 12PM and runs until 7PM. People come from near and far to celebrate the Rondo community. (Article and Image Source: rondoavenueinc.org, with permission)
