​On Saturday, September 21st we are celebrating us and demanding that love replaces guns on our community.

Guns Down Love Up Unity Festival is a day to celebrate and uplift those we have lost to gun violence. This year's festival theme, "My Brother's Keeper" will highlight alternative solutions to decreasing gun violence through healing, laughter, and reconciliation.

The day will be filled with fun activities for the whole family;
- Educational gun violence outreach
- Healing spaces
- Creative spaces
- Cultural space
- Free Food

Statistically
-African Americans are ten times more likely than white Americans to die by gun violence.
-68% of African American adults or someone they care for has experienced gun violence in their lifetime.
- Children exposed to violence are more likely to abuse drugs and alcohol; suffer from depression, anxiety, and post traumatic stress disorder; resort to aggressive and violent behavior, and engage in criminal activity.

While the numbers may be shocking, the results aren't. Communities across America are discussing the trauma of gun violence and how to solve it. Guns Down. Love Up is bringing this conversation to the community residents of North Minneapolis. And We invite your organization to join us in supporting this vital mission as we focus on the impact of gun violence in our community. ​

A Living at Home/Block Nurse Program serving Union Park, Summit University, Mac-Groveland (north of St. Clair) Neighborhood Districts.

Join the Selby Ave Jazz Fest Bike Ride, hosted by Move Minnesota, Slow Roll Minneapolis, Model Cities, and Frogtown Farm. Meet us for a beautiful 7-8 mile bike ride that will highlight the Frogtown and Rondo neighborhood. Our group will ride at a relaxed pace. All kinds of bikes and skill levels are welcome—especially beginners.

Highlights will include visiting the Green Line, Frogtown Farms, and remembering the impact of I-94's construction and how it changed the neighborhood. Riders will join in on a New Orleans-style jazz parade and stroll toward the event stage to open the Jazz Fest! 

After the ride, participants are invited to join us for some food, and explore different healthy and environmentally friendly ways to get around at our interactive station.

Planting at Lilydale Bluffs

This 100-person volunteer event is sponsored by our generous partner, the Saint Paul Area Association of REALTORS® Charitable Foundation. Volunteers will plant native seeds and plugs along a two-acre swath of land at Lilydale Bluffs in St. Paul. Significant erosion in the area has led to degrading bluffs and poor water quality in the nearby Mississippi River. The native plants will encourage habitat recovery and stabilize the bluff soils, a critical piece to improving the bluffs.

A fellowship is an opportunity for fellows to build for themselves, family and community. The People's Fellowship is for African American families guided by the Nguzo Saba principles, Self-Determination (Kujichagulia) and Cooperative Economics (Ujamaa). It's an opportunity to learn how to boost income while being set on a pathway to building wealth and assets for the future with culture at the center.

2. Complete Wealth & Asset Building Workshops (Adults & Youth)

3. Make Deposits into Invest-in-your-future accounts up to $50 per month

4. Complete My Pathway Plan with Ramsey County

5. Participate in 6 month Fellowship Journey (September 2019- March 2020)
