The Frogtown Neighborhood and Summit U Planning Council will be collaborating throughout the summer and beyond on an anti-displacement vision for the future of our two communities.
We see the avalanche of development unfolding around us—cranes in the sky, new businesses, buildings, and apartment complexes emerging, the overall value of our community increasing, and as a result, friends, family, and establishments that have called our community home for decades, disappearing. Things are changing and changing quickly. Our July forum will center on how we, the community, can be a part of that change. How do we advocate for ourselves? How do we collaborate and communicat effectively? How do we educate? How do we sculpt policy? How do we make decisions as a collective? Mychal Batson, local artist & designer, will give a presentation outlining our effort and facilitate further discussion. COMMUNITY MEETING (hosted by Union Park District Council, but all residents and community members from neighboring districts are welcome, given the project's unique location near the intersection of Union Park, Hamline-Midway, Frogtown, and Summit-University Districts.)
June 17, 6:30-8:30 PM Urban development is one of the most important issues today, particularly in light of our country's affordable housing crisis. The Committee on Land Use and Economic Development (CLUED) is holding an open discussion Monday, June 17th (6:30-8:30pm) surrounding the Lexington Project. The project is a proposed residental building to be developed on a currently vacant site located at 411-417 Lexington Pksy N (just south of the intersection of University Ave and Lexington Pkwy N). The project is in a preliminary conceptual design phase, but is currently anticipating ~250 apartment units. The Wilder foundation (the sellers of the plot of land) will be joining us for this meeting. This is your chance to ask questions! All residents and community members from neighboring districts are welcome, given the project's unique location near the intersection of Union Park, Hamline-Midway, Frogtown, and Summit-University Districts. Say it loud for the people in the back!
Don't put your recycling in bags in your recycling cart. Recyclers can't tell what's in the bag, so your items might not get recycled. Recycle Smart, do your part and place recycling loose in your cart. Try using an unlined bin or reusable bag to collect recycling in your home and then put it loose in your recycling cart.
